My Black Dog is a charity that offers peer-to-peer support for  people who are struggling with their mental health. All of our volunteers are people who have lived experiences of their own  mental health battles and understand what you are going through. We are FREE and ONLINE via our chat service every day. When you don't know who to talk to, talk to someone who gets it.

Online Mental Health Chat with My Black Dog
We are volunteers. We understand that coping with mental health is HARD, and not knowing who to talk to can make it feel a hundred times worse. You might be worried about what people will think of you, you might feel ashamed, you might feel that they won't understand. We do. Every single person that is a part of My Black Dog, from the volunteers to the ambassadors has felt this way before. We get it.

My Black Dog is not a crisis point or a suicide line. If you are experiencing suicidal thoughts, please contact the Samaritans by calling 116 123.

This site is for adults. If you are under 18 years of age, please visit Childline

Online Mental Health Chat Opening Times

Our volunteers are available to provide support every day through our web chat function.... just click on the GREEN button on the right-hand side of this page.

We can get busy, so please stay with us! Take a look around the My Black Dog website; there are some great articles and blogs to read, as well as some alternative therapy ideas.

If we're not online, please leave us a message in our online mental health chat box and we WILL get back to you. You are NOT ALONE. We're here for you.

We are an online mental health charity. We are not doctors or therapists, not counsellors or psychiatrists, we are mental health volunteers who understand; people who have ALL experienced mental health issues.
